MARIA GIUDICE: One of the biggest mistakes I made that I think many people make is keeping a trouble employee on the payroll too long, for fear of losing body count, or that person’s irreplaceable because they are maybe very talented, but their personality is very negative. And I think this happens in a lot of marriages too, as a matter-of-fact, because this is about relationships. So how do you fix that? Well I think that after, after going through that experience, and getting that person out of the company it made me realize that it’s not worth having a negative impact on your culture. So I would recommend to people is to have the courage and confidence to let that person go, knowing that another person is going to come and fill, and be better off. Crisis equals opportunity. That happens when you lose great employees because sometimes there are a moment, there are things that happen in people’s lives and they can no longer work for your company or it’s not a good fit. You can always look on the bright side and say, “Well, that person did this really well but they weren’t very good at that… Let’s find somebody who can do that really well, as well.” So I think its really about courage and confidence, and accepting the fact that people are going to come and go in your business life, and it’s okay.
