How Should Women in Business Set Professional Goals?

Setting clear business goals for yourself gives you a road map to follow and significantly increases your chances of success. Some important things to consider when determining your goals include both your professional and personal needs, as well as the skills that can help you fulfill those needs. If you don't have the needed skills, ask yourself how you can acquire them -- training, mentoring, returning to school? Determine short-, medium-, and long-term goals, set timeframes for each, and organize them in order of importance.

For many working women, finding the proper balance between work and home life is often a major issue. If this is true for you, keep in mind that your business goals should improve your personal life, giving you more quality time for yourself or with family.
