Generating a Business Idea

You're ready to start a small business. You have the drive, the desire, and the commitment to make it work. You lack just one thing — an idea for the business. Don't worry. Even successful entrepreneurs sometimes have difficulty deciding their next move. Creating a business idea can be challenging. But there are steps you can take to be successful. For example, put yourself in your customer’s shoes and do research to spot a business need. Or, even better, take a few lessons from some of the legends in the field. Sam Walton, founder of Wal-Mart, once said, "I probably have traveled and walked into more variety stores than anybody in America. I am just trying to get ideas, any kind of ideas that will help our company. Most of us don't invent ideas. We take the best ideas from someone else."
