Buy a Business or Franchise

To start a business from scratch, or to buy an existing business or franchise: That is the question many entrepreneurs ask. Each approach has strengths and weaknesses. Start your own business and you can shape its very roots. But you also have no idea how the real world will treat your enterprise. When you buy an established business, on the other hand, you have a known entity with market awareness, an established product line, employees, and client base. But will those elements help or hinder your success? You could be buying the problems that made the former owner sell. Or you could buy a franchise from a company that talks about support but doesn’t deliver. Whether you build your own or buy a business, the key is deep and thorough due diligence.
