Payroll
To reduce costs and increase efficiency, many small businesses have turned to payroll software programs such as QuickBooks Payroll from Intuit or VersaCheck Payroll by G7 Productivity Systems. Today's leading software programs automatically update tax rates, calculate federal and state tax liabilities, make tax deposits and filings, and fill out tax forms. Make sure you choose a software solution that’s compatible with your computers and offers direct deposit or printable checks. If you have many employees and complex compensation such as employees at a variety of pay rates/pay scales, you might do better to explore an external payroll service such as ADP or Paychex. Don’t forget to review the costs and services provided and check the payroll service’s references before signing on the dotted line.
